STRESS, it is said, is the only food that some artists need! This certainly seems to be true of many dancers, but it really does need more than a cigarette, a coffee and a chocolate bar to give you the strength to last past your 30th birthday. High levels of stress are found in every area of the Arts, but the physical toll can be very high, leading to frustratingly short careers and painful retirement. Perhaps you really enjoy the buzz - but make sure you avoid joining the ranks of the prematurely burnt out!
